About Duncan
Duncan was inspired to become a counsellor after being a youth worker for the City of Coquitlam, the City of Maple Ridge, the City of Pitt Meadows, Covenant House, and the North Vancouver Recreation and Culture Commission. Since 2021, he has been a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
Approach
Duncan uses an integrated model of care. He combines CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Satir, and positive psychology in his practice. He values providing care that is affirming, non-judgmental, inclusive, and pertinent to each individual's needs. He creates a warm and inviting space so that clients feel safe and encouraged to explore their concerns. In addition, he believes that every person has the internal resources to guide them through life's trials. By learning to access those resources through self-compassion, inquiry, and acceptance, he believes that clients can navigate challenges with greater resiliency, skill, and foresight. Overall, Duncan sees his clients' humanity, identifies and nurtures their strengths, and assists them in finding solace and normalcy again.

Duncan offers professional care for a range of issues: depression, anxiety, insomnia, ADHD, family and relationship concerns, career concerns, anger and conflict mismanagement, misophonia, low self-esteem, guilt and shame, chronic pain, substance misuse and addiction, gender and sexual identity concerns, and burnout.
